About Me

Education and Academic Career

Kirill Rozhdestvensky graduated from the Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute (now SPbSMTU) with a specialization in Hydroaerodynamics.
Since completing his degree, he has devoted his career to scientific research and teaching at SPbSMTU–LSI, steadily progressing through the academic hierarchy—from Assistant at the Department of Hydromechanics to Director of the Department of International Cooperation.

  • 1969 – Successfully defended his Candidate of Technical Sciences (PhD) dissertation in Hydromechanics

  • 1972 – Defended his Doctor of Technical Sciences dissertation in Ship Theory


Academic Titles and Leadership Roles

  • 1982 – Awarded the academic title of Professor in Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Modeling

  • 1984–2015 – Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Modeling

  • 1982–1999 – Dean of the Faculty of Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering

  • 1999–2015 – Vice-Rector for International Cooperation in Science and Education

  • Since 2015 – Director of the Department of International Cooperation


Scientific and Organizational Activity

A highly respected scholar and prolific author of monographs, textbooks, and scientific articles, Professor Rozhdestvensky has actively participated in numerous scientific and dissertation councils:

  • 1985–2015 – Chairman of the Doctoral Dissertation Council in Mechanics (01.02.05 – Fluid, Gas, and Plasma Mechanics; 01.02.04 – Solid Mechanics)

  • Currently – Member of the Doctoral Dissertation Council in Naval Architecture (01.02.05 – Ship Theory and Structural Mechanics)


International Experience and Lectureships

Professor Rozhdestvensky has taught as a visiting professor at leading universities and research centers around the world, including:

  • USA – University of Michigan, University of California, MIT, Virginia Tech

  • Germany – Hamburg University of Technology

  • China – China Shipbuilding Research Center, Wuxi

  • Malaysia – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur)

  • France – CNRS Laboratory of Mechanics and Engineering, University of Paris, Ecole Centrale de Nantes


Industry Engagement

  • 2003–2006 – Advisor to Rolls-Royce Naval Marine

  • 2006–2018 – Advisor to Transas Technologies

  • Currently serves as Honorary Vice President of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST), London, UK


Scientific Community Involvement

Since 2012, Professor Rozhdestvensky has served as:

  • Vice President of the Krylov Scientific and Technical Society of Shipbuilders of the Russian Federation

  • Chairman / Co-Chairman of numerous international conferences on underwater and marine technology, including:
