SMTU and Nuclear Power Institute of China (NPIC) shared their experiences in corrosion protection

The seminar participants were welcomed by Irina Evgrafova, the Dean of the Natural Sciences and Humanities Faculty, and Lilia Tomaychuk, the Head of International Projects Office of International Relations Department.

The Chinese were represented by Mr Liu Chengming, Director of China Nuclear Power Institute (CNPI), and Mr. Luo Wanyu, the Head of Longli International Investment Group.

Founded in 1956, the institute is а part of the Chinese National Nuclear Corporation and subordinated to China State Council. Since its foundation, seven nuclear installations have been designed and built there. In particular, China's first high-flux engineering test reactor.

In his report, the director of CNPI spoke about the corrosion of equipment and materials at nuclear power plants in China, as well as about laboratory complexes that measure and track this problem.

Valery Trusov, Professor, the Head of the Chemistry Department, and Marina Zhdanova, the post-graduate student, in the joint report «Conversion phosphate coating with atmospheric corrosion inhibitors» told about their research and development.

Angela Gribankova, Professor in Chemistry at the SMTU, made a presentation «Research of advanced green antifouling and anticorrosive composite metal coatings and technologies in the marine environment».

The event was attended by the International Relationship Department staff and postgraduate students. The translation was assisted by Yu Xinyan, an assistant of the Ship Design and Technical Operation Department.

Seminar participants expressed interest in cooperation on anticorrosive coatings and technologies, including for nuclear power.
