Kirill V. Rozhdestvensky graduated from the Leningrand Shipbuilding Institute (LSI) as Engineer in Hydroaerodynamics in 1969. In 1972, he defended his candidate dissertation in Ship Hydromechanics and in 1983, his doctoral dissertation in Theory of Ships.  

Academic and research activities

The entire career of Kirill V. Rozhdestvensky is connected with LKI-SPbSMTU.  In 1972-1982, he had worked at the Department of Hydromechanics. Since 1982 and up until now, he has been professor of the Department of Applied Mechanics and Mathematical Modeling, the head of this Department in 1982-2015. In 1982-1999, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering and in 1999-2015, he was Vice Rector on International Cooperation in the sphere of science and education.  Since 2015, K.V. Rozhdestvensky is Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the University. Professor Rozhdestvensky has vast teaching experience both at SMTU and abroad. He had taught in the U.S., Germany, China, Malaysia, and France.

Scientific and organizational activities

A reputed scholar and author of textbooks, scientific monographs and articles, professor Rozhdestvensky is engaged in the work of dissertation and science and engineering councils: he had chaired the doctoral dissertation council on mechanics (01.02.05, “Mechanics of fluid, gas, and plasma” and 01.02.04, “Mechanics of deformable solid body”). Presently, he is member of the doctoral dissertation council on the “Theory of Ship and Construction Mechanics” (05.08.01).

Since 2012, professor Rozhdestvensky is vice President of the A.N. Krylov Technical Society of Shipbuilders of the Russian Federation.  He is chair or vice-chair of the steering committees of international conferences dedicated to underwater engineering: “Super FAST 2008”, “WMTC 2012,” “NAOE 2016,” and Marine Robotics 2017.

Along with that, he is member of editorial boards of several journals in shipbuilding and marine facilities including Morskoy Vestnik, Marine Intellectual Technologies, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Marine Science & Applications (Harbin Technical University), Journal of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, etc.
